The New School actively assists students attending from around the world, providing an I-20 Visa for those who qualify. If a foreign resident is interested in attending The New School, SEVIS and The Department of Homeland Security require the following:

• A determination by the school that the applicant is appropriate in the course of study. For this, The New School requires a personal interview with the school Director, either via Skype or telephone.

• Since foreign students will not be able to work while studying in the U.S., the applicant must be able to demonstrate that they have the ability to pay both living expenses and tuition while in the United States for their program of student.

Once these requirements are met, The New School will issue an I-20 to the applicant for them to receive a Visa to study in the U.S. The actual Visa will be obtained from the U.S. Embassy in their country of residence. The New School will then actively assist the students in helping to locate housing and prepare for the move to the U.S.

Following the completion of the program, students, depending on the circumstances, may be able to actually receive a social security card and work within their field of study for a limited time.

Foreign students should contact The New School for specific information and questions.
