The New School program with Hudson Valley Community College is a unique one. Students register at HVCC and take two semesters of their Associates degree program at HVCC and two at The New School. This offers students the “best of both worlds” receiving an academic degree along with professional, skill-based real world training in Television and Video Production, Broadcast Journalism or Radio Broadcasting.
Although attending semesters two and four at The New School, the Student is actually considered a fulltime HVCC student for all four semesters, enabling them to participate in all HVCC activities and athletic teams.
Although the tuition is different between the two schools, students pay only HVCC tuition for semesters one and three and only New School tuition during semesters two and four. Financial Aid preparation and processing for all four semesters is done through HVCC, along with registration and payment of all semester bills.
As part of the fourth semester, students will be provided with an internship at a Television Station, Production Company or Radio Station appropriate for their career goals.
Students will graduate from both HVCC and The New School receiving an Associate’s Degree and 60 transferable credits from HVCC.
Articulation agreements are currently in place allowing for immediate transfer to SUNY Albany, SUNY Plattsburgh and The College of St. Rose, among others.
